- 1 tea bag or 1 tsp of loose leaf black tea
- 1 cup of water
- 1/2 cup of milk
- 1 tablespoon of sugar (or to taste)
- 1/2 lemon, juiced
Instructions:
- Start by boiling the water in a pot or kettle.
- Add the tea bag or loose leaf tea to the hot water and let it steep for 2-3 minutes.
- Remove the tea bag or strain the loose leaf tea.
- Add the milk and sugar to the tea and stir until the sugar is dissolved.
- Bring the mixture to a simmer and let it cook for 2-3 minutes.
- Remove from heat and add the lemon juice.
- Stir well and serve hot.
You can adjust the amount of lemon juice and sugar to taste. You can also garnish with a lemon wheel.
Note: You can use any type of tea you prefer, but black tea is the most traditional choice for chai.
